The Lappet Show: Philotherma rosa aniera

I usually don't care much of all those subspecies, but it's a good way to post the same species twice on this blog. The African Philotherma rosa has been on these pages before with stock from Malawi. Today however, it's time for the aniera subspecies, so far only reported from Namibia (as far as I know). This very attractive moth has a wingspan in between six and nine centimeter. There seems to be only one annual brood, with a very long pupal stage. The caterpillars - which will be in the next post - did pupate early May last year.
