Here's another mega Lappet from Africa with a huge difference between the large and heavy females and the much smaller and slender males. The females reach a wingspan up to twelve centimeter, while the males are not even half that size. The moths emerge after a short pupal stage of only three weeks. The caterpillars also develop quite fast, but that is something for my next post. The rearing stock came from Cameroon, from Obout Village in Central Cameroon to be more precise, but these moths are widespread throughout Central Africa with sightings from Ivory Coast and Ghana eastward through Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo and Uganda to Kenya and south to Angola and Tanzania.
