The caterpillars in this post match the moths I displayed yesterday. They are not very large, only six centimeter, but that's because they are all males. If I would have had some female larvae, they would have been larger. Like for many other Lappet species (Lasiocampidae) you need to have some patience. They ain't the fastest growers. It takes three months for them to grow to their full size and spin a cocoon between leaves or in a corner of the cage. On the other hand, the pupal stage is short: only two to three weeks. This species does well on Rubus, Arbutus and Rhododendron. Probably a lot more, but not Prunus (laurocerasus).
