No worries, no worries ... there's nothing wrong ... I will continue this blog ... I just can't force them to hatch or to grow faster, can I? It's winter anyway, so I'm not even trying to break dormancy. They will hatch when they're ready. Like this Brahmaea certhia, a species from China and the Korean Peninsula. They only have one flight per year, usually not this early in the year. The end of march, early april, is more 'normal', but how normal is captive rearing anyway. So, they are starting to hatch now, which is quite nice of them to fill the gap on my blog. Like all the Brahmaea species, certhia is a fairly large moth with a wingspan of around ten centimeter. And no, having them emerge now is not a problem if I wanted to continue this brood. The caterpillars feed on evergreen Ligustrum species, still plenty of that around here.
