That took a lot longer then I expected, but at last, after approximately three months the moths are finally emerging. This medium sized Automeris is easily confused with the very similar looking Automeris innoxia. However, the moths depicted below are the offspring from a wild caught female and based on the caterpillars there is absolutely no doubt that this is not innoxia. Go see for yourself. The pitch black with yellow larvae are in my post from earlier this year (May 27th). The wingspan is somewhere between six and a half and nine centimeter. Arminia occurs in the north part of South America with records from French Guiana, Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana, northern Brasil and Ecuador.
