And then there were hundreds! All emerging closely together and horny as hell. Males do not seem to have any problems finding a partner. I have over thirty pairings and thousands of eggs. Too many, so a lot of them will end up in the freezer. It's a smaller species with a wingspan in between four and five centimeter for the males and significantly larger for the females (up to six centimeter). Although none of them reached the size of the wild specimens I caught in the Dzalanyama Forest, probably because of the winter rearing under drier conditions then they experience during the Malawian wet season.Which species is this exactly? I have no idea. Stoermeriana is a large genus of African lappets, very closely related to Streblote and many members have been moved from Streblote to Stoermeriana and vice versa. The genus is poorly described and in need of a serious revision. It's even possible that the moths in this post are an undescribed species. Who knows?
